October weather in Budapest
Expect daytime highs around 15-18°C early in the month, easing to 10-13°C by the end. Nights drop to roughly 5-8°C, and by late October a cold morning can feel closer to winter than autumn. There are usually 8-10 rainy days spread across the month, rarely all-day rain — more often a sharp shower and then clear light. The two things that catch visitors out are the temperature swing between midday and evening, and how early it gets dark. October is a strong month for culture rather than mega-events. Expect the autumn concert and theatre season in full swing, art and design weeks, and the national holiday on 23 October (the 1956 Revolution memorial day) — a public holiday with commemorations around Parliament and Kossuth tér, and some closures.
