If Tokaj is Hungary's sweet white legend and Eger its Bull's Blood folklore, Villány is where the country makes its most serious red wine. Tucked into the sun-soaked hills of Baranya county near the Croatian border, this is Hungary's warmest wine region — and its Cabernet Franc is now considered among the best in the world, with its own local name, Villányi Franc.
