Three rules that fix 90% of mistakes
Stress the first syllable
Always. BU-da-pest, KÖ-szö-nöm. Hungarian never moves the stress.
s = 'sh', sz = 's'
So 'Sziget' is SEE-get and 'Puskás' is POOSH-kaash.
Long marks matter
á, é, í, ó, ő, ú, ű are simply held longer - they change the word.
